Each TORCHGRIP® kit includes an installation template. (Installation template.pdf)

  1. Trim template to closely match perimeter of tablet
  2. Remove center disk instructions from template
  3. Clean surface of tablet/case
  4. Center and secure template to back of tablet
  5. Remove release paper from grip-base adhesive ring
  6. Carefully line up grip-base with hole in template and stick to tablet
  7. Remove template and gently apply pressure around grip-base with palm of hands for 30 seconds
  8. Attach grip to base

Detailed Installation Instructions

Items required:

  • TORCHGRIP® grip-base and grip handle/stand
  • TORCHGRIP® installation template
  • Flat surface
  • Soft cloth or towel
  • Soft cleaning cloth
  • Adhesive tape
  • Scissors

We recommend clearing off a flat surface (counter or table top) and using a soft cloth or towel placed down as working surface.

  1. Trim template to closely match perimeter of tablet

Unfold the template and lay it facing up on a flat surface. Lay your tablet on the template and center it on the template. Note the letters of the horizontal and vertical lines that match up closest to the edge of the tablet. Remove the table and use a scissors to trim the template to closely match the perimeter of the tablet.

  1. Remove center disk instructions from template

Refold the template and notice the center disk is now pie shaped and easily removed along the perforated line. Remove the center disk and retain the instruction sheet for reference.

  1. Clean surface of tablet/case (see note on compatible cases)

Lay a towel or soft cloth on the table top and place your tablet screen side down on the cloth. Clean the back surface of the tablet or case. Lightly dampen a section of a microfiber cloth with water and gently wipe the back of the tablet or case, then go over it again with a dry section of the cloth to wipe away any moisture. Do not press too hard and avoid getting moisture in any openings like the speaker, camera, or mic. If there is any residue on the back of the tablet, you may also try using a mild soap-and-water solution.

  1. Center and secure template to back of tablet

Unfold the template and place it facing up on the back of the tablet or case. An appropriately trimmed template should cover the back of the tablet and the center opening should be directly in the middle of the tablet. You can use small pieces of tape to secure the template to the tablet during installation. Before removing the release paper from the grip-base adhesive ring, place the grip-base in the center opening and notice the perfect fit and the alignment dots. While not necessary for functionality, we recommend aligning the reference points (any of the four dots) on the TORCHGRIP® base assembly with the four points on the template.

  1. Remove release paper from grip-base adhesive ring

Lift the grip-ring from tablet and carefully remove the release paper (white paper) from the grip-base adhesive ring (black). Use a utility knife, if needed, to cut, grab and remove the release paper from the adhesive. Cutting into the adhesive will not damage it. Note, the 3M VHB adhesive is aggressive and will securely attach the grip-base to your tablet or case.

  1. Carefully line up grip-base with hole in template and stick to tablet

With two hands, slowly lower the grip-base, with the adhesive side down, into the center hole, aligning the reference points as described in the previous step.

  1. Remove template and gently apply pressure around grip-base with palm of hands for 30 seconds

With the grip-base centered on the tablet back or case, you can now remove the template and gently apply pressure around the grip-base with the palm of your hand for approximately 30 seconds. The adhesive will form a tight bond with the tablet surface. The grip-base should remain attached to your tablet or case until you decided to physically remove it.   1. Attach grip to base.

The TORCHGRIP® handle/stand fits on the grip-base one way. Please note the rectangular and a round tabs at the base of the handle/stand. With the grip-base TORCHGRIP® logo on the right and the locking button on the left, pinch the grip/stand at its widest point (thumb closest to you and finger(s) farthest) with your right thumb and index finger, align the handle/stand to the base, press down and slide the handle forward or away from your body until you hear a click. That signifies a secure fit between the grip-base and the handle/stand. Test for proper adhesion of your new TORCHGRIP® to your device or base by holding onto the device with one hand and gently pulling on the handle/stand with the other.

Always make sure the handle/stand is securely affixed to the grip-base prior to using your device.

Remove the handle from the base

To remove the handle/stand from the grip-base, lay the tablet on a flat surface with the grip-base TORCHGRIP® logo on the right side. With you right thumb and index finger, pinch the base of the handle/stand as described in step 8. With you left thumb or index finger, press the button down on the left side of the grip-base (opposite the TORCHGRIP® logo) and slide the handle/stand back or toward your body. Lift the handle/stand up and store in your device sleeve/bag with your device for easy transport.

Transferring the base to a new tablet

You can remove the TORCHGRIP® base assembly from one device and transfer it to another by purchasing a TORCHGRIP® Adhesive Transfer Kit (click here to purchase). This kit will include removal instructions, a plastic putty knife, a new instructional mounting template, and one new mounting adhesive ring providing everything you need to successfully transfer your TORCHGRIP to your new device.
